Where to eat in Tampa Bay with a group

Tampa Bay has so many places to eat that choosing one with a group can take longer than the meal. Cuban sandwiches, fresh seafood on the water, taco trucks, brunch spots, barbecue: everyone has a different idea. wawe started here to help groups settle it quickly.

Make the choice smaller

The bay is big, and a drive from Clearwater to Brandon at rush hour can change everyone's mind. Pick the side of the bay you'll be on first: Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater or somewhere in between. Then compare places that are actually close to everyone.

Mix up the kinds of food

A vote between three seafood places is hard. A vote between seafood, Cuban and tacos is easy, because people know what they're in the mood for. Offer three or four different kinds of food and let the group choose.

Think about the outdoors

A lot of Tampa Bay eating happens outside. On a hot afternoon or a stormy summer evening, that patio place might not be the best idea. Check the weather before you add it to the list.

Let everyone vote, not just the loudest

Instead of a long group chat, send one link. With wawe you share your location or type the area, and it suggests three places nearby, or you choose your own. Friends open the link in their browser, type a first name and tap their pick. Each person gets one veto for the place they really can't do tonight.

When time is up, or everyone has voted, the winner appears for the whole group. Tap to open it in Maps and go. It's free, and nobody needs to sign up or download anything.

Not in Tampa Bay?
